Preventing Youth Violence

Parents play a big role in honing their child behavior. Parents are the ones who are very influential to their child. So as prevention to youth violence, parents should always talk to their child to show care and concern. They should offer a helping hand and must listen to their child’s concern. Parents should know where their child will go, what they’ll do and most especially befriend their friends. It is important for parents to know their child’s friends and to treat them as friends also. There should always be balance in disciplining their child. To prevent youth violence, parents should teach their child about the importance of education, proper living and anything that will convince him/ her to do well. Encourage them from Parish or Community involvement. Discourage your child to join irrelevant orgs such as fraternity and gangs. Be a good companion to your son or daughter. Play with them or have a happy recreation with them so they will enjoy being with their family. Be consistent and firm to what you say to your child. Do not be harsh and inconsiderate. Parents should also control their child to media violence that they may adapt. These media violence can be available via Television, Radio, music and video games. The most important of all is setting a good example to your child.
